The Jericoacoara National Park covers an area of 6295.00 hectares. IBAMA is the states organization which aims to protect and preserve samples of the coastal ecosystems to ensure the preservation of natural resources and provides controlled opportunities for public use, education and scientific research.
The Jericoacoara National Park was created in February 2002 as part of the re-organization of the Environmental Protection Area of Jericoacoara, established by Decree No. 90,379 of 29 October 1984 in the municipalities of Jijoca, Jericoacoara and Cruz in the state of Ceara.
The climate is typically hot and humid, with average temperatures between 22 ° C and 35 ° C and the dry period ranging from 5 to 6 months.
In an overview of the park we have the feeling of an extremely vulnerable ecosystem which is composed of various landscapes as sierras, lagoons, dunes, “tabuleiro”, “mangroves”, grasslands vegetation and beaches, with 38 families of birds, and various species, rare or in extinction.

Compreende 91 hectares e tem como objetivo harmonizar, proteger seus recursos naturais e melhorar a qualidade de vida do homem, constituindo-se em instrumentos essenciais para a proteção da biodoversidade do local.
